Comparative study of catechin levels from green tea, oolong tea and black tea product with various treatments

Background: Tea is a refreshing drink that contains polyphenol compounds, namely catechins are used for medicine and cosmetics. This study was to assess the content of catechin compounds in green tea, oolong black tea products from Indonesia, China Taiwan. Methods: Some brewed at varying temperatures (75±2; 85±2 95±20 C) times (5; 10 15 minutes). Identification carried out using chemical reagents UV spectrophotometry. The level cathecin were analyzed by spectrophotometer 280 nm wavelength. Results: results obtained indicate contain epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) according color change based on spectrum analysis which has λmax range 268-274 nm. quantitative tests UV-Vis spectrophotometry showed samples gave highest levels followed with brewing temperature °C. Conclusion: various varies type processing method temperature. Therefore, this expected provide information related public researchers.
